It has come to our attention that one of the UK's hobby outfits are stating that JetCat turbines can only be run with Exxon turbine oil.

This is of course incorrect as JetCat have passed Aeroshell 500 and Mobil Jet II for use with their turbines.

We have used Mobil Jet II for three years now with excellent results Available from Motors & Rotors at £8.99 per quart.

The cold weather is playing games with the hardy winter Jet flyers, some of whom are struggling to fill the on board gas tank.

An excellent idea is to get one of the beer cooler covers and place this over your gas filling can while in the warm at home or in the car. This helps keep the cold out (avoid putting the can on the cold ground.

Best tip is during the winter months use a fresh tin, keep the used one for the summer when it will be fine.

Regular lubeing of the gas quick release filler valve with silicon oil is needed due to the degreasing properties of propane. This also helps stop the valve freezing open. Oil available from Motors & Rotors
